Yes! You can buy The Writer’s Chronicle at B&N and Books a Million (if you have those–last two chain bookstores I know of). I am reading the memoir/window article now. And of course you can subscribe, but head on over to B&N first. It’s the kind of thing you want *now.*

They are equally strong (and oftentimes painful) yearnings, so far as I know, based on my own experiences.

I did the same thing, and not just that Sunday tea. Do you think it’s peer pressure that brings about those feelings of wanting to belong, but not really? I wanted to be in the “in crowd” because everybody did, but honestly, those people were mostly boring.

I suspect I hurt a few people’s feelings. Those people couldn’t have understood how hard it was for me to be the popular-social person I had fantasies of being.

Jeannine, I love The Writer’s Chronicle. I used to get it free, maybe because I was in the Vermont College program. But now I happily buy it and *always* save at least two articles. It has a lot of poetry articles and I read those, too. You never know . . .

I’m glad another writer preferred GWTW and maybe A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (my other favorite) to A Tale of Two Cities. Cheers for us shy gals!

It’s funny–I thought I’d be the one to come back with something concrete I could apply to my work and I wound up in a tangle of memories. You, on the other hand, bought a wonderful book and the next day made something from that book and photographed it! Maybe I should follow your map for a while–you pick the next field trip!
